Calming Your Anxiety-Ridden Pets Naturally

Animals can be very similar to humans sometimes, in respects to their emotions. Dogs can still suffer from stress and anxiety, just like humans do. They can have traumatizing experiences, just like humans.

Pets that are suffering from anxiety can get help. Using essential oils can allow your pets a chance to heal. Natural medicines offer less negative side effects than traditional medicine.

The two main essential oils we will discuss in this article are lavender and roman chamomile. Both have great properties that help animals that have fears, hyperactivity, and depression. They help with stress, trauma, or any other feelings of anxiety.

Be sure to talk to your vet before administering essential oils to your animals. Animals can be very sensitive, so the less you use the better. Instead of using the essential oil in its pure form, use a carrier oil to dilute it a little. Here are a few treatments you can use on various pets you may have.

If you have a dog, calm him with 1 drop of lavender and 1 drop of Roman Chamomile that has been mixed with a carrier oil. This mixture should be safe to comb through their fur or directly applied. Rub the mixture on the dog's pads of his feet and on his ears.

Calm horses with the same recipe. Mix 1 drop of lavender and roman chamomile with 1 drop of carrier oil to dilute it. When you notice your horse acting particularly stressed you can whip this up to help. Apply the oil to the horse's muzzle or cornet bands. You can also apply it on your horse's ears.

Cats are very sensitive to essential oils that have phenols. For example, Oregano and thyme have phenols in it. Cats lack an enzyme in their liver that makes them unable to digest the phenols properly.

Lavender and Roman Chamomile, on the other hand, are completely safe for cats. You should dilute it more than with animals, by using 10 drops of carrier oil instead of just 1. You can apply the mixture on the cats ears, fur, and pads.
