DIY Winter Moisture Cream

Skincare in the winter can be entirely different from skincare in the summer. Harsh cold, lack of sun and biting winds create the perfect storm for skin to become dry, cracked and worn. It s a time of year where the heavier moisturizers come out and are used as much for their deep moisturizing properties as for the protective shield they provide on the face. And while there are plenty of pre-made private label skincare options for winter, why not get a little crafty and make a winter proof moisture cream by hand?

DIY projects for skincare are some of the easiest around, and this winter moisture cream is no exception. A few choice private label carrier oils are whipped with some delicately scented and skin cell hydrating essential oils to create a light and fluffy yet wonderfully hydrating and protective moisturizer. Feel free to change it up and substitute one or all of your favorite private label skincare oils if they are not already part of the recipe.

You will need:
  • 1/8 cup Jojoba oil
  • ½ cup Raw Shea butter
  • 1/8 cup Rosehip Seed oil
  • Rose Otto essential oil
  • Clary Sage essential oil
  • Lavender essential oil
  • Container/jar of choice
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spoon
  • Hand held mixer
If the Shea butter is not already soft and pliable, place in bowl over low heat on a double boiler and let it soften. Add the carrier oils and 10 drops of each essential oil to the Shea butter. With your hand held mixer, whip the Shea and oil mixture until it becomes light and fluffy. Start on low and increase the blender speed as desired, being careful not to splatter. When the mixture has reached a fluffy, whipped texture, transfer to your jar of choice and keep in a cool dry place.

If you find yourself wanting to make this recipe but don t have every single ingredient, don t worry! The only mandatory component of this private label DIY moisture cream is the Shea butter- without it the cream won t actually become a cream. Other than that, experiment away and have fun. This is a great activity to do with younger children, or to give away as Christmas gifts in cute little containers. This cream can also be used all over the body, and is great for massages and those extra dry spots like elbows and knees.
