Eucalyptus Globulus
Australia, Brazil
Anti-infectious, anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, expectorant, bug repellant. Treatment for acne and cystitis. For centuries Australian Aboriginals used the leaves as a disinfectant to cover wounds. Shown by laboratory tests to be a powerful anti-microbial agent, eucalyptus has often been used for the respiratory system as well as a powerful insect repellant. Eucalyptus trees have been planted throughout parts of North Africa to successfully block the spread of malaria. According to Jean Valnet, MD, a solution of 2% eucalyptus oil will kill 70% of airborne staph bacteria. Some doctors still use solutions of eucalyptus oil in surgical dressings. Has also been used to effectively treat herpes simplex and vaginitis.
