How to Use Essential Oils

The thousands of uses of Essential Oils is nothing less than extraordinary! From zapping the flu virus to erasing wrinkles, Essential Oils take care of almost everything!  When you see the gamut of how Essential Oils can be used, it can feel  overwhelming.  How do you keep all the applications straight?

Luckily, it easy to break down How To Use Essential Oils into four bodily care categories:

1. TOPICAL HEALING

Essential Oils are distillations of the most potent part of a plant.  For this reason, they are great for topical healing.

Some oils can be applied right to the affected area.   Essential Oils like Lavender, Rose, Sandalwood, Lemon, Sweet Orange and Clary Sage can be applied directly to the skin with low risk of irritation.

For topical healing, other essential oils are best mixed with a carrier solution such as Almond or Coconut Oil.  Shoot for 3-5 drops of Essential Oil per teaspoon of carrier oil, or 1 drop per 4 teaspoons if planning to use on infants.

2. SKIN CARE

Essential Oils work immaculately to take care of any and every skin issue.  Some of the RSL favorites include:

Helichrysum- for anti-aging

Lavender for burns and acne

Melissa (Lemon Balm) for cold sores

Roman Chamomile for soothing inflammation

Rose for total skin beauty.

3. BATH/MASSAGE FOR INTERNAL HEALING

You don t have to swallow your Essential Oils for them to heal you at a deep, internal level.  The molecules of essential oils are very small and can enter the bloodstream through the appropriate-sized pores.

Taking a bath with a few drops of essential oil opens up the pores and allows the oil to seep into your skin and start internal healing.  Clary Sage is a great oil to add to baths because it helps with hot flashes and hormonal balancing.  Cypress Oil will heal bones and large veins when added to a bath

Using Essential Oils in a foot massage is also a great way to take care of internal healing.  Essential Oils enter the bloodstream easily when applied to the feet and you can guide healing by using a foot reflexology chart.  Good oils to use on the feet include potent oils like Thieves and Black Pepper - both powerful antibiotics and virus fighters.

4. INHALATION

Inhaling Essential Oil fragrance works for mood lifting.  Just inhaling the scent of certain oils is enough to create a real state change in your body. To get rid of stress, tension and agitation, RSL recommends Bergamot, Frankincense and Geranium.

Inhaling essential oils can also restore respiratory health.  Clove Oil and Lemon Oil are particularly equipped for this task.  Vaporized Lemon Oil can kill meningococcal bacteria in 15 minutes, typhoid bacilli in one hour, staph in two hours, and diphtheria in 20 minutes, and it can inactivate tuberculosis!

Many essential oils have antibacterial, antimicrobial, antiviral, anti-inflammatory properties as well as beauty and aromatherapy applications. We encourage you to check them all out at the RSL Website to discover our large variety of oils and what works best for you!
