When it comes to hydrating and plumping up your skin, one of the best
private label skincare ingredients you could possibly use is
Hyaluronic Acid. Not only does it attract water to itself from the environment, it also can hold up to 1000x its own weight in water! That means that, when used in your private label skincare products, all that moisture gets held in your skin which translates into glowing, plump and super soft skin. Sounds simple enough, right? Just use Hyaluronic Acid and you’re good to go- right? Unfortunately, it’s a little more complicated than that. See, there are two different types of Hyaluronic Acid available for use in private label skincare: one that is plant based and one that is not. And for better or worse, the only one you should be using on your skin every day is the one that comes from plants. Here’s why:
Up until the 1990’s, the only way of deriving Hyaluronic Acid was to get it from animal based sources, like rooster combs. For (hopefully) obvious reasons, that less than ideal process was thankfully given a replacement with the advent of a botanically derived Hyaluronic Acid that delivered all the desired benefits to the skin without the ethical and purity issues associated with the rooster comb derived product.
Botanical Hyaluronic Acid has the unique ability to make up for the lost, naturally occurring Hyaluronic Acid in our own skin. Yep, we all have naturally occurring Hyaluronic Acid. Hence the ability to derive it from rooster combs. It’s one of the things that gives the young their youthful appearance, and as we age the percentage of Hyaluronic Acid in our skin drops from 20% to 10%. By using it daily in our private label skincare we can make up for this loss and preserve the natural youth of our skin. Could you do this with rooster comb derived Hyaluronic Acid? Maybe. But why bother when the botanically based product is readily available and so effective?
To ensure your Hyaluronic Acid is botanically based, try to read ingredient labels or just go for vegan skincare, period. Here at RainShadow Labs we of course only use the botanical version in all of our skin care products- private label or not. It’s cleaner, more ethical and wondrously effective. For all your skin hydrating and plumping needs, choose botanical Hyaluronic Acid.
