The health of your skin can be an indication of your overall health and not caring for your skin properly can have far-reaching effects. Skin irritations can weaken the immune system and make the body more susceptible to all kind of infections. Eating right, exercising, and getting the proper amount of rest can have just as much of an impact on your skin as it does on the rest of your body.

What to Eat?

Your skin can be a billboard for whether or not you're eating a healthy diet. Certain foods like seafood and high glycemic and fatty foods have been known to give some people acne. Food allergies can also cause a spotted or uneven complexion. Try eating whole grains, fish, green vegetables and green tea to help clear up troubled skin and keep it looking fresh and healthy.

Skin Friendly Exercise

Exercising is essential for a healthy body, including your skin. Being physically active helps you maintain a beautiful glow and an even complexion but you do need to take a few precautions to protect your skin. If you're exercising outside, be sure to use sunscreen. Sunscreen containing shea butter will not only offer UV protection but will also nourish the skin in the process. Using a cleanser containing aloe, vitamin E and coconut milk can help clean off all that sweat and dirt left over and replenish your skin's natural nutrients after a workout.

Sleep for the Skin

Having a stressful day and not getting enough sleep at night can take a toll on the body, one that often shows up on the skin. Getting good rest is essential to rejuvenate your body and your countenance. Getting some beauty rest will also help slow the aging process, which will keep skin looking younger and firmer.

Harnessing the Power of Nature

Using skin care products containing essential oils can help skin stay bright and refreshed. These natural plant oils contain essential vitamins and oils that can improve both the look an function of your skin.
