Early Uses

The essential oils we know and love today are derived from plants such as lavender, a beautiful purple flowering plant native to the Mediterranean region. Lavender can be grown in a similar climate, with warm summers and mild winters, which is why we are able to source our lavender essential oil from right here in Oregon.

Some of lavender’s topical uses were discovered by French scientist Rene Gatefosse when he sustained a severe burn from a laboratory accident and, in a pain induced frenzy, quickly applied some lavender essential oil to the burn. Almost immediately he noticed how quickly his pain went away and was later amazed to see that his burn had healed with no scar.

Even earlier uses of lavender came from Ancient Rome. The lavender flowers were often used in Roman bath houses, as perfume for royalty and in beds for relaxation and peaceful sleep. Lavender has been used for centuries, and today we bring to you an authentic and safe locally produced lavender product.
