Citrus essential oils are some of the most loved and commonly used in the essential oil world. I mean, is there really anything better than the gorgeous smell of fresh Lemon or fragrant Orange? But did you know that there is more to the citrus world of essential oils than just Lemon, Orange and Grapefruit? Some are made from fruits, while others are made from the leaves, flowers, and even the stems of citrus trees. Here you will find three less well-known citrus oils that we think more people should know about: Petit Grain, Kaffir Lime, and Red Mandarin.

Petit Grain essential oil is made from the leaves and young twigs of the Orange tree. As a private label skin care essential oil, it helps to balance the oil production and moisture content of the skin, making it valuable for helping to treat both acne and dryness. It may give a slightly cooling sensation upon application, which makes it nice for summer use as well. For aromatherapy, it helps to relieve depression and anxiety, and the smell is so nice that a simple calming whiff or a couple drops in the diffuser are an easy and effective way to do this.

Kaffir Lime essential oil has an absolutely gorgeous and refreshing smell, and this pleasant aromatic quality couples perfectly with the strong insecticidal and antibacterial properties of this oil. Using it to clean your house becomes an event to look forward to! Kaffir Lime is also very uplifting for the mood, and it has a very slight stimulating effect that can be useful when you need an energetic or mental boost.

Red Mandarin essential oil smells like floral citrus candy and is used so extensively in France for children that it is known as “the children’s remedy.” This delicious essential oil is perfect to use on children who struggle with falling asleep, anxiety, and stress. It can be placed in the diffuser or massaged into the belly or feet along with a carrier oil of your choosing. Red Mandarin essential oil can also be used as a natural treatment for stretch marks, again rubbed diluted into the skin.

Whether you’re simply in the mood for something new, are looking for a way to make your house smell good, or need an oil for de-stressing, one of these oils will do the trick. Bring harmony to your skin and mind with Petit Grain, put a spring in your step with Kaffir Lime, and calm your little ones with Red Mandarin.
