Essential oils can benefit almost every aspect of your life, including hair care. Using essential oils as part of your hair care routine can give you healthier hair and help you to address problems that may be occurring.

There are two simple ways that you can incorporate essential oils into your hair care routine today. The easiest is by adding a few drops of essential oils to your current shampoo. Another way you can utilize essential oils in hair care is to make a scalp treatment that you can massage into your hair and scalp. This can be made using a few drops of essential oils along with a carrier oil which can then be applied to the hair and scalp. Some essential oils that are beneficial to every type of hair are lavender, rosemary, jojoba, and borage.

Essential oils can also be used to address problems with the hair and scalp. For instance, if you suffer from dandruff, make a scalp treatment from or add essential oils to your shampoo that can help with this problem. Lemon, cedarwood, basil, tea tree oil, patchouli, and several others can help alleviate dandruff.

If you have a dry scalp or dry hair, consider using sandalwood or geranium in addition to the lavender and rosemary to treat it. Almond, sesame, and avocado oils are all good carriers that you can add to your mixture to help with dryness. For oily hair, peppermint and cypress oils can work wonders, particularly when paired with sesame oil as a carrier.

Hair loss is a problem for many people, both men and women. It can be caused by genetics, illness, stress, or a number of other factors. Essential oils like lavender, cypress, and rosemary can be blended with jojoba as a carrier to help stimulate hair growth and prevent further hair loss.

Once you've treated your hair and scalp using essential oils, it’s a good idea to rinse with a hydrosol (floral water) to leave your hair and scalp feeling clean and fresh. Hydrosols made from the above mentioned essential oils will help treat hair issues and promote overall health. Using natural ingredients in your hair care routine can help rid your hair of harmful chemicals. And last, but certainly not least, your hair will smell great when you’re done.
