One of the most popular and effective essential oils for cleaning is Orange, though you could easily substitute any other citrus oil in its place. Mix it up and try Lemon or Yuzu instead. All three of these oils contain naturally occurring de-greasers that help to keep your home clean and grime free, while also providing calming aromatherapy to keep you relaxed throughout the day. Lemon essential oil is also a very effective concentration enhancer, so if you need to get some work done, or want to help your kids concentrate on their homework, using Lemon essential oil is a great way to do that.
You can also blend some essential oils together, and one of our most favorite blends for this exact purpose is the Thieves essential oil blend. It contains four essential oils that are powerful antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal substances and they do a wonderful job of keeping your home pathogen free. This is especially beneficial if you have children in school, as we all know how many more sick days kids have once the school year starts!
It s useful to note though that all essential oils are powerful disinfectors, so if you choose to use only one essential oil, such as orange or lemon, you will still be protecting your immune system and keeping your house as germ free as possible.
