If you wear makeup, then you probably know about primer, the product you can apply to your skin before makeup that helps the makeup stay and also helps protect the skin. Plenty of brands sell primer as a complete product ready to be purchased at the store or online, but we have a little secret: you don t have to use primer! You can still get all the benefits of wearing primer by using a private label skincare product in its place.
So why would you want to do that? First, why spend money on an additional product for your face if you don t have to? By using your favorite private label skincare product as a primer, you save yourself money and time by doubling down on what works instead of going through unnecessary extra steps to achieve the same result. Second, by using a private label skincare product as your primer, your primer then becomes a product that actually helps your skin stay happy, beautiful and taken care of because of all the therapeutic anti aging ingredients in your skincare.
Our number one recommendation for which private label skincare product to use as a primer would be a serum. Vitamin C serums are absolutely amazing for the skin, but if you prefer to use a different kind of serum instead, that s fine too. Maybe it s a peptide serum, or perhaps you like the skin plumping that comes from using a serum with hyaluronic acid in it. Whichever it is, the point is that the serum will soak into your skin quickly without leaving a greasy residue, and will perfectly prime your skin for the makeup to come next. Serums are also very light in texture, which makes them even more enjoyable to wear during the summer months when the heat and sweat makes a moisturizer or other type of product feel like way too much.
If you don t have a serum or want to use something else, a light, non-greasy moisturizer is another great choice for use as a primer. The key here is to make sure it s not super greasy, otherwise your makeup will end up looking greasy as well. Just apply onto your clean skin and let it sink in for a second or two before applying your makeup of choice. It will work just as well as a serum, and if you have dry skin it may provide an extra boost of hydration to keep your face feeling good all day long.
